INITIAL SITUATION

Intralogistics as a decisive success factor for the value creation of a company is subject to the requirement to function stably and the operational areas within a company to meet needs
and to supply material and goods quickly. The requirement for this task is often to manage the supply with as few personnel as possible. This often means that specialist personnel are tied up with logistical activities and are not available for the intended purpose. For example, an engineer tasked with supervising the operation of a machine must travel a distance of 500m to obtain necessary materials.

BOOSTRACK helps you to optimize intralogistics and increase production capacities.

OUR EMPLOYEES ARE SUPPORTED IN THEIR OPERATIONAL WORK BY USING VARIOUS TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS, SUCH AS SENSORS, BUTTONS AND SCANNERS. INDIVIDUAL INTRALOGISTICS CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS FOR YOUR INTRALOGISTICS.

ANALYSIS BY BOOSTRACK

Since the beginning of 2017, we have been working with our client, a global automotive supplier dedicated to providing new mobility solutions and technologies. At a production site in Saarland, our customer manufactures vehicle add-on parts, such as B. Side skirts. These are completely painted and delivered just-in-sequence to various vehicle manufacturers. This is partly already completed, including all assembly parts. A wide variety of components must be permanently available at more than 24 assembly points, for example to supply production machines with clips and springs. As soon as stocks at the production sites ran out, the fitter had to leave his workplace and find supplies at the central high-bay warehouse. Depending on the situation and the utilization of the warehouse technology, this could mean a significant delay of up to 20 minutes. Due to a comprehensive new construction of the production, many work processes were restructured, which had to be reacted to and redesigned.

IMPLEMENTATION

BOOSTRACK was commissioned several years ago as a system supplier for the central supply of the production site with auxiliary and operating materials. In order to meet the requirements of the new project, it was necessary to set up a separate subsidiary. The financing of the previous service offerings (amongst others the construction of a customer-specific warehouse on site, daily delivery service to various cost centres, delivery and regular filling of dispensers, etc.) was not carried out via a service fee, but due to the predominant use of BOOSTRACK's supplier base. As a result, we were able to realize existing trading margins due to the original trading activity. This option did not exist with the new project, since all suppliers were determined in special selection processes or were even specified in some cases by the OEM end customers. Thus, the purpose of the company is not to act as a trade, but to provide logistical services on behalf of customers. After the contract was awarded, several employees were hired, who were qualified for their future activities in a joint process with the customer.

OPERATION AND ONGOING OPTIMIZATION

Today, the fitter no longer has to leave his workplace. The required product components are brought directly to the assembly points daily by the colleagues at BOOSTRACK GmbH. We can monitor the stocks via the automated systems of the BOOSTRACK series. Needs-based stocking at the assembly sites does not mean a huge amount of on-site storage. The decisive factor here is not to predict the need based on a forecast, but based on the actual consumption.

MEASURABLE SUCCESS

By being involved in the routine meetings of our customer's work preparation, we are always aware of spontaneously occurring deviations in addition to the weekly production planning and can therefore react at any time. The storage area is approx. 3.500 m², additional full-time employees have been hired. In addition to various storage and logistics services, scheduling and the associated bookings are no longer carried out exclusively in our merchandise management system, but also in the customer's own SAP system. Through the use of various technical solutions, such as sensors, buttons and scanners, our employees are supported in their operational work. In a separately set up warehouse, BOOSTRACK stocks all items according to the customer's specific specifications and delivers them daily to the cost centers in the production facility using the Fi-Fo principle and documented batch management.
